The Boston
Architectural Center in conjunction with the Boston Society of Architects
is sponsoring a Gallery exhibit “Landmark American Bridges of the 21st
Century”. The exhibit, curated
by Miguel Rosales, AIA Principal, Rosales Gottemoeller & Associates, will
document the architectural design and engineering of a group of major American
bridges currently under construction or in the final design phase. The show will run from November 12 through
December 15 at the BAC at 320 Newbury Street in the Back Bay. Gallery Hours are Monday through Thursday
from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday
from noon to 5 p.m. Mr. Rosales will
lecture on the topic on December 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the BAC.
The drawings, models and
renderings of the bridges show how they will become the new landmarks of
important urban centers. Many
communities have become interested in improving the appearance of their bridges
and the exhibition will document the results of some of these efforts. The show will raise the awareness of the
need for excellence in bridge design and illustrate how bridges can play more
than just a utilitarian role in society.
The bridges to be exhibited include:
Charles River bridges
Boston, Massachusetts
Woodrow
Wilson Memorial Bridge Washington, D.C.
San
Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge San Francisco, California
Damen
Avenue Bridge Chicago, Illinois
Raccoon
River Bridges Des Moines, Iowa

The show will continue at the
