DISCOVERING THE BEAUTY OF BRIDGES

by Robert Cortright

Front Cover Review
A remarkable gallery of lavish photographs which elevate bridges from pieces of the roadway to pieces of art. The 283 colorful pictures cover 20 centuries and 16 countries across North America and Europe, concentrating on structures with striking aesthetic features. The succinct but somehow satisfying captions reveal that Cortright has made an extensive study of his favorite photographic subjects. This splendid book, a testament to one man’s fascination, invites the reader’s wonder at the utility and grace, strength and imagination, the art and science of bridges.

BridgePros Review

This book includes some of the most graceful and beautiful bridge pictures we have seen. Robert Cortright's amazing photos take the reader into a new realm.  The book opens with bridges of stones that were built as long ago as 2000 years.  It reveals how the construction of bridges has changed while the beauty has remained constant over centuries.  The book also includes many bridges of this century, as well.

Some bridges featured may be recognized by readers while others are sure to come as a pleasant surprise.  For readers in the United States who have not traveled abroad we promise your eyes will be opened to the truly historic European bridges that Robert Cortright has captured.

This book does not offer much of a technical aspect but that in no means takes away from the pure beauty of the bridges featured within its pages.  The author gives a brief description of each bridge in his book.

Overall we recommend this book as a must have for anyone's collection.
