During a two day closure of the bridge (July 17-18 1999) a
crew of workers installed and successfully post-tensioned sixteen tendons
consisting of fifteen .6 in dia strands. The entire system weighed 3.4
million pounds. Each tendon was 3600 ft long making them the longest tendons
ever post-tensioned in the world.
