PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Lynn Cove Viaduct cut a path through the forested slopes of the BlueRidge Parkway.  Figg and Muller Engineering developed a span-by-span, gantry-launch assembly of precast box segments, and the building of the next pier support from the finished span in order to cause minimum disturbance to the environment.  This is known as top down construction.
     When the Lynn Cove Viaduct was finished it was as if it was placed there by a giant hand from above. To view more about a gantry crane system click here.
